The first meal I ever had from Fume eatery was at the Saturday afternoon market in the Al Barsha pond park, Dubai, where they operated a food stall during the cooler months. The delicious Pulled beef brisket bun with vinegar slaw and the Bbq lamb cutlets had me going back for my weekly fix until the end of the season.
The actual restaurant is located at Pier 7, Dubai Marina, and I finally visited the restaurant for a farewell lunch for one of our department during a week day a few months ago. The décor is rustic and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. If you have a window seat you get a lovely view of the Dubai Marina. The servers occasionally seem a bit distracted but that is only because the restaurant venue is quite large.
It was quite busy at the time of the visit but we had a reservation and were seated immediately. The food was wonderful on that day and has been on every subsequent occasion. We ordered a variety of starters and each one was delicious. I tried the Indonesian Beef Cheek rendang that was served with a roti-like flatbread or rice. The beef was soft as butter and had a very rich and aromatic sauce.
Fume have a lunch promotion of one course for AED 35 and two courses with coffee for AED 65. For this quality, it is a bargain you cannot afford to miss. My friend and I have gone there on a few occasions and I must confess I am in love with the Laksa with udon noodles and prawns.
The udon noodles are served in a bath of spicy coconut curry containing bean sprouts, baby bok choy, tofu, soft boiled egg and king prawns served in weirdly shaped soup bowl. Take care with the bok choy though so you don’t splash the curry sauce all over yourself (as I did). Delectable desserts include Banana and Date toffee pudding and Apple and Blackberry crumble.
Verdict: If you are in the Dubai Marina and want something special for lunch or dinner, Fume eatery will be good choice for a delicious meal in a relaxing environment.
