Here in Dubai it feels like Summer for much of the year, with temperatures sometimes reaching highs of over 50 degrees Celcius between June and September, and lows during the cooler months of around 18 degrees Celcius.
The other day I read an article that mentioned Fall and pumpkin spice in the same sentence and I was momentarily taken aback. My first thought was ‘No, no, no, it is Summer!!!’.
And then I realized that between work and travelling back and forth between Northern and Southern hemispheres in the months since May, I seem to have flown right past Summer and it’s seasonal bounties. The only reminder has been the easy drive to work until the new school year starts in a few weeks time.
In this part of the world, the local produce is limited due to the intense heat, but we do still manage to find a few things in the supermarkets, albeit with a higher carbon footprint. As a swansong to Summer, I give you my favorite 5 ultimate summer recipes, utilizing the fresh produce available to me at this time of year. It includes breakfast, salads and beverages.
I love breakfast and brunch, and in summer I particularly love having fruit salad with Greek yogurt, muesli and honey. You will love this Cherry and Raspberry breakfast sundae with a mix of sweet and tart fruits, creamy yogurt and crunchy muesli and a drizzle of honey.
As an accompaniment to barbeques or grills you cannot beat my Ultimate summer salad or the Citrus salad with pistachios and pomegranate (This recipe was made for the September 2015 Blogger’s Monthly Fiesta – Fruit recipe challenge).

The Red fruit salad with rose scented cream is a light but indulgent end to a meal especially if you’re like me and must have something sweet to end. You will love the refreshing and tangy Mango and orange aguas frescas to wash down your meal.
